Graduation Requirements
The following is a listing of the graduation requirements for Archbishop Hanna High School. Archbishop Hanna High School is a fully WCEA/WASC accredited school offering a diploma to students who successfully complete all these graduation requirements. Students who have fallen behind in their credits towards completing their high school education have the opportunity to “catch up” while attending Archbishop Hanna High School by completing:
- Summer School courses
- Independent Study courses (through AHHS instructors)
- PASS Program Cyber High courses

Graduation Requirements
A student must earn a minimum of 220 credits over the four years of high school. This is achieved by taking six or seven periods per semester for eight semesters, earning 5 credits per class (30 or 35 credits per semester). In order to be awarded the 5 credits per semester, the student must earn a grade of D- or better.
NOTE: Sonoma Valley High School has a six-period day which allows for a maximum of 240 credits during the four years. Archbishop Hanna High School has a seven-period day which allows for a maximum of 280 credits. AHHS also has religion curriculum which has 40 credits (10 credits each year) of required electives during grades 9-12.
A student must pass specific courses known as Graduation Requirements:
- 2 years of PE, 9th and 10th grades - 20 credits
- 3 years of Math - 30 credits
- 1st year required at 9th grade level
- 2nd and 3rd year may be taken in grades 10, 11 or 12
- Strongly recommended to take 4 years of Math
- 2 years of Science - 20 credits
- 1st year - Physical Science - 9th grade
- 2nd year – Life Science – 10th grade
- 4 years of English - 40 credits
- 1st year – 9th grade – English 1 & 2
- 2nd year – 10th grade - English 3 & 4
- 3rd year – 11th grade - English 5 & 6
- 4th year – 12th grade - English 7 & 8
- 3 years of Social Studies - 30 credits
- 1st year – 10th grade – World History
- 2nd year – 11th grade – US History
- 3rd year – 12th grade – Civics/Economics
- 1 year of Fine Arts - 10 credits
- May be taken in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12
- 1 semester of Living Skills - 5 credits
- Taken in grades 9 or 10 ~ Religion 9/10
- 1 semester of Keyboarding 5 credits
- Taken in grades 9, 10, 11 or 12
Additional Requirements:
Students enrolled at Hanna Boys Center School full-time (no classes at Sonoma Valley HS) MUST take a Religion class each year. This is a Required Elective.
- 1st year – 9th grade – Religion 9/10 ~ Living Skills
- 2nd year – 10th grade – Religion 9/10 ~ Living Skills
- 3rd year – 11th grade – Religion 11/12 ~ Social Justice
- 4th year – 12th grade – Religion 11/12 ~ Social Justice
Total Credits for Required Courses = 160
Total Credits for Elective Courses = 60 - 120
Total Credits Needed to Graduate = 220 - 280
