Technology

Each classroom at Archbishop Hanna High School has 4-6 computers for student use. Room 16 is our computer lab with 10 computers available for student use.

Teachers use the computers for many educational purposes which include, but are not limited to:

  • Internet research
  • Word processing with MS Word
  • Data base use with MS Excel
  • Report presentations with MS PowerPoint
  • Video streaming presentations on the Internet
  • Cyber High curriculum
  • Applications for college scholarships/financial aid

Currently, there are three courses offered in the technology curriculum:

Keyboarding

Course Description: This course is designed to provide students the opportunity to become proficient in “touch” alphabetic keyboarding, instead of using their “hunt and peck” methods of keying. These unconventional methods often hamper learning by forcing students to focus attention on finding keys, rather than on their thoughts. Research has shown that the development of typing skills is lined with improved language art skills. In addition to the development of typing skills, students will have a chance to strengthen their critical thinking skills and creativity by word processing (in Microsoft Word) selected assignments to practice their keyboarding skills.

Computer Technology

Course Description: This course is designed to give general knowledge of computer operation. Computers will be assembled and repaired. Networks will be established and simulation software will be used.
