The Future of Hanna

An Exciting New Vision

Since 1945, Hanna has welcomed more than 4,000 youth in need from Sonoma County, Northern California, and beyond. Building on this 75-year heritage of educating and caring for trauma-impacted youth, we are turning a page and embarking on an exciting new chapter.

Our vision for Hanna embraces new ways to broaden our impact, further innovate our approach, and create a world where every individual grows up resilient and healthy, regardless of their circumstances.

In the video below, meet our CEO Cameron Safarloo and hear about our plans for the future of Hanna.

Helping Individuals Overcome Childhood Trauma

Creating a Mental Health Hub

In Sonoma County, trauma-informed treatment and support resources for youth and their families are severely limited. In Summer 2022, Hanna will launch an integrated, full-service facility open seven days a week that leverages our expertise in trauma-specific services for the community.

Growing Special Education for Students with Emotional Needs

In 2022, we will enhance our range of services to students with special emotional needs by upgrading campus infrastructure and classroom technology, creating trauma-informed residential care, and building out our resources and counseling to offer even more personalized care.

Fostering Independence and Success

Living-Wage Jobs Through Career Technical Education and Vocational Training

In partnership with local associations, organizations, and employers, we will design and implement curriculum that allows students and transitioned-aged foster youth to earn CTE certifications while enrolled or living at Hanna, followed by apprenticeship and internship opportunities during their senior year.

Providing Residential Facilities and Support for Foster Youth

We will expand our residential facilities to support foster youth by dedicating group homes on campus to transitional housing, where young people can receive support and learn the skills needed to transition to independent living.

Building Strong Community Partnerships

Serving Sonoma County with Capacity Building, Support Training, and Programming

Over the next five years, we will expand Hanna’s services to increase our capacity at Hanna Institute, partner with thought leaders to address stress produced by systemic racism and oppression, and host innovative and immersive community events.
