In this role Chris oversees all fund development—annual fund, major giving, planned giving, foundation grants, events, campaigns, etc.—as well as Hanna’s marketing and communications program.
Prior to joining Hanna, Chris was vice president for resource development for Fair Trade USA, an international social enterprise and the largest certifier of fair trade products in North America; and prior to that was VP of development for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a $30M organization and the second largest guide dog school in the world. Chris also served as chief operating officer for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the nation’s leading organization supporting Latino higher education.
In the early 2000s, Chris spent five years as a senior community affairs manager for Microsoft Corporation, overseeing more than $120M in philanthropic programs for disadvantaged youth and higher education. During that time, he also led Microsoft’s international community affairs and disaster response efforts. He got his start in fundraising through leadership roles at the University of California (both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara) and the University of Washington.
Jones earned his B.S. in civil engineering from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Chris enjoys photography, hiking, biking and local volunteer work.
